The brief

Merton College needed an illustrated leaflet for prospective students to use on a self-guided walk during open days. The map needed to sit within the college’s existing brand guidelines while helping visitors find their way around the grounds.

The approach

The college identified the locations and details to be illustrated. I used the distinctive rooflines of the buildings to make the map easier to navigate, adding individual details to bring each stop to life.

I also developed the concept for the leaflet itself. A gatefold format allowed the map to sit in the centre, with the cover introducing the walk and giving visitors something easy to pick up and carry around.

The result

The finished leaflet combines a practical illustrated map with a format designed around the visitor experience. Prospective students can follow the route at their own pace, using the map to explore the college and discover more about each location.
