The brief
Hinksey National Park in Oxford includes an important fen habitat. The project involved creating interpretation to help visitors understand this distinctive environment and the work being done to look after it.
The approach
I designed two interpretation boards. The first uses an illustrated diagram to explain the fen habitat, bringing together its different elements in a colourful and accessible way. The second focuses on communicating the organisation’s work, using graphic design and layout to make the information clear and engaging.
The commission also included six individual plant illustrations.
The result
The boards give visitors a visual introduction to the fen and a better understanding of the work involved in managing and protecting the natural environment. The illustrations provide an additional set of images that can be used in the organisation’s promotional materials.
